Music that is talky or references literature is gay so it can't be that. The most /lit/ music would have to be something cerebral, minimalistic, and unassuming like the medium of literature. I'd suggest drone and noise music but I can see people arguing those are not very cerebral. So in that case probably jazz or baroque.

Can't beat Townes Van Zandt, guy was a fucking genius.

Well, won't you lend your lungs to me?
Mine are collapsing
Plant my feet and bitterly breathe
Up the time that's passing.
Breath I'll take and breath I'll give
Pray the day ain't poison
Stand among the ones that live
In lonely indecision.
Fingers walk the darkness down
Mind is on the midnight
Gather up the gold you've found
You fool, it's only moonlight.
If you try to take it home
Your hands will turn to butter
You better leave this dream alone
Try to find another.
Salvation sat and crossed herself
Called the devil partner
Wisdom burned upon a shelf
Who'll kill the raging cancer
Seal the river at it's mouth
Take the water prisoner
Fill the sky with screams and cries
Bathe in fiery answers
Jesus was an only son
And love his only concept
Strangers cry in foreign tongues
And dirty up the doorstep
And I for one, and you for two
Ai'nt got the time for outside
Just keep your injured looks to you
We'll tell the world we tried

There is definitely a link between language and music. It's all symbols, right? Just like you can see a set of words and know that they can mean so many things together, hearing a set of sounds can cause the same. Finding interesting and new ways to convey feeling without physical symbols is, in it's own way, a sort of language. It's obviously not literature, but it is an approximation of on an odd, yet interlinked, medium.

The most truly /lit/ music is found on the "Anthology of American Folk Music", which is not to be confused with faggoty 60s "folk" faggotry. It is all music recorded in temporary regional field offices of "local talent" from between 1927, when electric mics got gudd, and 1932 when the Great Depression wiped out the hillbilly and race general store record markets. Most of the performers are backwoods Appalachian to Texas nobodies who carried on the very /lit/ old world ballad tradition, so most of the songs are filled with fascinating, and often quite weird lyrical stories and such.

carti, uno, and maxo are all southern trap rappers whose lyrics aren't an important part of the music. Their music is all about the play of rhythm and melody in the way that Kandinsky, rothko, and pollock are about the play of shape and color. Classical music (at least most of the kind I'm talking about) doesn't have lyrics so. Miles Davis and Theolonius Monk don't have lyrics either so.

You coulda said just about anything else and it would have been a fair critique but you must be a brainlet.

Anyway everything on your list is absolute garbage except for Frank Zappa and maybe a few GD albums. lol pleb

How many instrumemtd you plsy big guy? For me, it's trumpet, piano, bass, guitar, banjo, and some various percussion like djembe and bongos/congas. Stand by it. Not all pop music is trash. My list is just you know whatever but its all sincere. Lyrivs should just tie up the song IMO. Music is sound, the actual words should be a bonus. Songs built around words usually suck.

To be honest the only recording band ever is pink floyd. Music should be performed.

keys, guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, I don't think you wanna get in a pissing contest with me about musicality lol.

I agree not all pop music is trash, just most of it is. Late Beatles, up to physical graffiti Zeppelin, up to animals pink floyd, unknown pleasures x joy division, a couple talking heads albums, some contemporary indie folk stuff like Sufjan or early Blake Mills is good too.

Counting crows, tool, garth brooks etc. are trash. So are Phish.

Yeah whatever so we can both play a bunch of variations of git fiddle. Trashing garth brooks and phish is just childish imo. To each their own but their talent speaks for itself. I promise this one phish song is a pretty good sum of them if you listen to the whole thing, https://youtu.be/YSdOE8lrc3k and then this one wilson is the follow up and its such a fucking proper rock song. Like wow, everyone knows this song ROCKS. If you're on the fence about phish listen to this first because its fucking quick and heavy and cool. Former is slow burn with multiple parts https://youtu.be/n8P_JlMAsMc

I disagree with this. we gotta go off the quality of the lyrics, or at least consider that heavily, when comparing music and literature. what you’re doing is not too different from making a high culture/low culture argument. although deathprod is sick.

I feel like when you take into account the quality of the lyrics you will look for music with very dense lyrics and narratives which amounts to just literature with a backing track. When I think of the act of reading literature, I think of the tranquility and the way it calms me, and I think that is what should be emulated by this music. Something that reflects the mood I'm in when I read, not something that is literally like reading but in music form. Although you can interpret the question however you want obviously.

No one ever posts BPB/Palace. Once requested that he sing his cover of D.H. Lawrence's poem "The Risen Lord," and he went on a stage ramble about Blaise Pascal. Had a great conversation with him afterwards about Kierkegaardian irony and anxiety. His first album is a thing of wonder.

>>13341813
Never listened to the album, but that cover was the banner an old music blog: Holyfuckingshit4000. The name was horrible, but they had some damn good finds.
