I've seen so many atheist threads on /lit/ today. I wonder what the deal is. Try to put yourself in these atheist's shoes:

>Science is God
>Scientists are the priests of God, only they can transmit the truth to us
>Never question the scientist-priests
>Abortion is a human right
>We must vaccinate all children
>We must circumcise all children
>We need artificial insemination
>We must colonize other planets despite problems on our own

Whether it's theism, or atheism, you can't get rid of the fedora on the Internet. At least early 2010s atheists really didn't believe. Can't say the same for internet fedora Christians and their positive belief who seem to brandish their theism as a fashion identity. Also, terrible Christians. Even Catholics and Anglicans seem to adopt protestant American evangelical tongue-speaking tactics when discussing god. I give it 5 years tops. Maybe we'll even see a 'horsemen' phenomenon for theism in pop culture, much like we did with atheism. But it will ultimately dilute gods to conceptualisations that will be incompatible with theism. About time Christians take the Jewish route and accept 'cultural Christians' as part of their tribe. Not a bad development all things considered.

Why Hume didn't burned to death?
He made A treatise of Human nature.

Like, If Spinoza had officially published the Ethics in his lifetime, he would have been burned to death. Definitely.

>"He... he is theist! he still believed in god!'
But Spinoza too! Spinoza also believed in god!
this is the truth; it doesn't matter whether you believe god or not when it comes to burning someone!
Hume didn't believe in miracles, It doesn't matter it contains Lazarus or not, why nobody burned hume?

>"there's some time gap between two, that's the difference"
I thought this is the answer, but it doesn't seem that convincing.
it is 63 years.
I mean, it is something, but not that a lot; 64 years ago from today Nabokov made Lolita. What happened to it since then? it is something, but not that much.
If this can apply to today, then what does it happened to Hume?

>"He is not that radical compared to Spinoza"
But... is it though?
this would be matter of opinion but Hume is definitely radical; radical enough to compete Spinoza.
In my opinion Is-ought problem is harsher than Spinoza's view.
and It is the Hume who waked up Kant's dogmatic slumber.
