Just read the first and last sentences of each chapter. No need to waste your time reading anecdotes about this or that car salesman from Nebraska.

All the books with big and promising titles are just a meme to lure you into bying. Same goea for Jordan Petersons 12 rules of life. You can either get good with people by experimenting in real life or by studying tons of psycology books.

>needs someone to tell you how to interact with people in a cooperative manner

i guess the internet will do that but it won't help if you have racist and misogynist views if you do manage to get out

Not OP but what if I’ve already studied psychology, and then I read said meme book which is influenced by psychology

I tried reading some of it but it didn’t really stick

This book was mostly just stating the obvious. Tbh I fell for the self-help meme and bought a couple self help books. How to get rich by napoleon hill actually gave me some motivation but the weight of the world has made it dissipate. Tony Robbins books made me feel better too, but at some point you realize how much of a hack writer Tony is and how hell-bent he is on selling you ideas rather than using convincing arguments.

Just a shame you live in the wrong century and that the entire contents of the book is outdated garbage and that it assumes you already have no issues talking to people and communicating. It boils down to: study the other person, ask questions, learn things about his/her hobbies to talk about to win their favour. NOTHING applies to the difficulties the modern aspie has with handling relations.

What's a good book for the modern aspie then?

I remember being so excited when I bought this book, thinking my whole life would turn around, I would finally start looking people in the eye, become sociable, charming, talkative, etc but really it did nothing for me. That was 20 years ago. No book will turn your life around and there is very little on this Earth that can make a person genuinely change, certainly not something that can be bought and consumed. Deep down you are who you are and you will stay that way until the day you die, no matter how badly you want to believe otherwise.

This one is different tho. It has been a bestseller for decades and gives advice that is just common sense. Very useful to people who have been raised by incompetents, and there are many of us.
