imagine spending your life, getting a gf, going on dates, falling in love, moving together, having ups and downs, have children, see your children graduate from high school
sitting down with your wife staring at the beautiful scenery on your home with a lake beside, your wife leaning on your shoulder with her eyes closed, looking as gorgeous as the first day you met her
and you notice something faint in the sky, it starts to get clearer and clearer until you can read it
a giant "SERVER RESTARTING IN 15 MINUTES FOR MAINTENANCE" written on the sky
you panic at what this could possibly mean, is the earth gonna restart? is this all a projection? has your whole life been a lie?
You tell your loving wife to look you in the eyes.
she faces you and what do you see? Is it really her? is she really your wife? whose eyes are this?
No, theyre your wife's, shes your real love, the person youve been with your entire life, this cant be fake, this cant be all just a fabrication
You walk together inside the home you built from the ground up, not facing back and letting your wife walk in first as a gentleman would, closing the door behind you, not before seeing the bright red letters in the sky still written out
You tell your wife to turn on the tv and watch it while you go and do something
going into your office, your pc boots from its sleeping mode , opening google and searching for "message in sky" and "giant server maintenance in sky" only to show you posts about old mmo videogames
You look out of the window and still see the message, you think for a moment, all, everything, this
what is this

why now


You burst into rage, knocking everything on your desk including your son's portrait drawn in crayon
you pick it up, remembering how you supported your son through everything, how you took him to the movies with his girlfriend, how proud you were when you caught him having sex, how happy you were when your grandson was born
you crawl into a fetal position and begin weeping
your wife walks in hurriedly asking what's wrong and sits besides you
you cry in your wife's lap as she comforts you for a moment and recover yourself
you stand up and help your wife up, going back outside and sitting besides the lake again
You tell your wife you love her, she says she loves you too
You share a hug while unknowingly the text in the sky has changed to

"SERVER RESTART IN 5.."
