True progress consists in submitting the human element which corrupts liberty, to the divine element which purifies it. Society has followed a different path in looking upon the empire of faith as dead; and in proclaiming the empire of reason and the will of man, it has made evil, which was only relative, contingent and exceptional, absolute, universal, and necessary. This period of rapid retrogression commenced in Europe with the restoration of pagan literature, which has brought about successively the restoration of pagan philosophy, religious paganism, and political paganism. At the present time the world is on the eve of the last of these restorations, – that of pagan socialism." (Letter to Montalembert, June 4, 1849.)

>[Bonald's] conception of human nature pales in comparison to the outbursts of Donoso Cortés, whose contempt for man knew no limits: Man's blind reason, his weak will, and the ridiculous vitality of his carnal longings appeared to him so pitiable that all words in every human language do not suffice to express the complete lowness of this creature. Had God not become man, the reptile that my foot tramples would have been less contemptuous than a human being: "El reptil que piso con mis pies, sería a mis ojos menos despreciable que el hombre." The stupidity of the masses was just as apparent to him as was the silly vanity of their leaders. [...] The despair of this man, as can be gathered from his letters to his friend Count Raczynski, often bordered on insanity; according to his philosophy of history, the victory of evil is self-evident and natural, and only a miracle by God can avert it. The pictures in which his impressions of human history were objectified were full of dread and horror: Humanity reels blindly through a labyrinth that we call history, whose entrance, exit, and shape nobody knows; humanity is a boat aimlessly tossed about on the sea and manned by a mutinous, vulgar, forcibly recruited crew that howls and dances until God's rage pushes the rebellious rabble into the sea so that quiet can prevail once more.

Great points, but Christisnity refuses to have religious law because Paul says no.

I have read him btw, he helped me feel less uncertain about Sharia, especially the death penalty for apostasy. Brilliant writer.

Wrong. Civil law is degenerate that's why Catholics don't care about it other than civil procedures like every-day regular proceedings
Civil law does not mix with priesthood otherwise we end up like today's degenerate american pro-abortion revolutionaries and neoconservatives

Civil law = proceedings
God's law = commandment

I think Christians were smart enough to be pro-government, so they can slither into society like the kikes they are.

I was thinking about using some of my Spanish again and trying to read Cortes in the original. Would that be worth it or should I just save time and read his Ensayos in English?

The Bible gives God's--may He be glorified and exalted--law, Paul said it was obsolete. I am unsure when or where Christians believe God--the Glorious, the Exalted--sent down another law.
