More like Anabasedest. Just finish your first year of Greek? I'm reading the Symposium.

But anon... I'm Greek

Great choice, I recommend Lucian's Dialogues of the Dead next.

>Lucian's "Dialogues of the Dead"
Never even heard of Lucian, thanks! Is he as easy as Xenophon, more difficult than Plato's Symposium, or somewhere in between?

>> No.13254766

>>13254726
I would say easier, way more light hearted and more of a cynic look on the living rather than the dead (fitting I suppose as the latter could not read his work)

ok but we only have that on vinyl

Read all of Xenophon, he actually btfo'ed Plato many times.

Xenophon is actually extremely based. His work is accessible, both histories and dialogues. A real MAN

Hey how close is koine to modern Greek?
Like if learn koine is it worthless when dealing with actual Greeks?

>> No.13256159

>>13256012
Yeah, it's pretty much worthless in this scenario. Futhermore, it will actually impair your modern Greek if you plan on learning the modern language. I speak both but I've literally never used koine and doubt I'll ever need to. Also, most translations in modern Greek are exceptionally acurate to the original works. I still like reading in koine though.

>> No.13256236

>>13256012
Oh also
>how close is koine to modern Greek?
It's close but still detached. If we go by the proper pronounciation of koine it's even more unintelligible. Think ancient english. You might get a few words right here and there and grammar and sentence structure is very similiar but it's still very different. To use an example, after learning, translating and reading koine I subconsciously shifted my sentence structure to that of koine. Nothing more nothing less. Yet the other Greeks still managed to notice that something was off. Hope that answers your question. Cheers.

Not only is this wagecuck wishful thinking but also incoherent. If you are a big boy in the pursuit of happiness you should admit that you sometimes complete objectively crappy tasks to build your bright future. How will you gather gold if you can't tell it apart from the shit ? I didnt know you could turn wagecucking into a religion. More on this meme ? Genuinely interested in the pastapost.
