Envy and resentment have more to do with the thought processes and feelings you associate with being a failure than with your actual reality. You lack the will to disengage from simple luxuries long enough to realise your gratitude for them, and you have constructed pathways in your brain circuitry that are goal dependent in which you don't have the means of achieving in reality. You need focus on yourself, know yourself, and you need cognitive behaviour therapy to address what it means to BE a failure in a world that no game is offered to us except in rhetoric. You must practice mindfulness, you must change your diet, you must provide for yourself, sleep in your own body, you must temper the superego's derision with the grace of God so that His world may be perceived. Beginning with simple aphorisms and moving to longer essays on wellbeing you can move yourself into His favour and begin again to sing the world's praise.

What if I know all this and I still can't get my shit together because no matter how hard I try I always am only ever doing something because it's a chance to get me laid or to distract me from my desire to express what it is to be an primate animal in a digital cage? Do I just read DFW or Zapff, or do I do like you say and find a mentor either in the real world or in an abstract Father? Cause nothing else is working, let alone me.
