I've tried to escape suffering by killing myself, and thankfully I failed, many good things happened to me since. So I know he's not 100% objective due to pain.

Read EM Cioran. Suicide should be an idea entertained only to deter you from it, to make life worth living again. Also read Kierkegaard's Fear and Trembling, to remind you that Abraham's hand is not stayed by God, but rather that he stays it himself only at the point at which he was certain he could've gone through with the sacrifice. Suicide should be the fatal fantasy that you carry with you and gives you the strength to carry on, not the inevitable outcome of a pitiful life.
