Has this any value? I don't know if I want to waste my money on this.

It's not your money that you'd be wasting Anon, it's your time

So you would say it's pure shit?

Ironically if only you had read this book you wouldn't post this thread asking for other's opinions because it teaches you to stop moping around and do something for yourself, for once. Grab life by the pussy.

It's a great book if a bit long and dry at the beginning (200ish pages), but it is one of the greats.
the Brainlets here on /lit/ only dislike it despite never reading it because that's what they've been told to think by their sociology professors.

Far shorter, more entertaining and better all around read Stirner’s The Unique and it’s Property and London’s Martin Eden.

Rand is a talentless rightwing meme

reading about the interconnectedness of different industries was interesting but the book only exists to push the authors politics, also the author's self insert character bounces from cock to cock so much that it becomes clear the whole thing is just a wank fantasy, especially the flashback chapters where you can practically hear Rand strumming herself to young Francisco d'Anconia. as soon as Rand is finished with Hank Rearden he goes on a giant cuck speech about how he wants Dagny (Rand) to leave him and fuck the brains out of John Galt. the ending is also laughable, re-writing the 1st amendment about preventing companies from selling any product to anyone

It's a lengthy treatise on the individuals pursuit of success. A sort of Capitalist Manifesto.

In that, it's a black and white outlook. It doesn't cover the grey areas of life, it only offers one side and fetishizes it. Its initially commendable and well written prose and doctrines on the individual human spirit erode into preachy, eye-rolling, overly-rationalizing and finally worrying tirades on what could be considered empathy.

It's best read by someone who is far-left, as it will only plummet a right winger deeper into their blindly entrenched beliefs.

It's in my top 20. Personally, I agree with the message it gives and I think that is where you either like it or think it's trash.

I do think the soapbox speeches can get a little long winded though.

It's weird. It's both cringe and based. Some of the ideas and themes are interesting, but they're expressed so autistically, it can be distracting.

Honestly, The Incredibles 1 & 2 are the only worthwhile expressions of "neo"-Objectivism, as is Bioshock in a perverse way.

Had the opposite effect in me. Bought it because lolbertarianism told me it was great.

I enjoyed the plot enough but the sex ranting about how being a total bitch to everyone was good and helping people was shit was disgusting and I hated it.

I’m not a lefty but I préfères Dagneys brother to her and now laugh at anyone who actually cites this as a basis for their world view.

Surprise the author it a Jew.

Watch the movie first, even if you start with just Part I. If you like it, then proceed to the book.

Atlas Shrugged is my favorite book of all time, and if you take your time to become the characters in the book, you might just have a good time.

Taylor Schilling as Dagny Taggart is K.I.N.O.

His one and only work, The Ego and Its Own. Don't bother reading any extra material, skip the bits where he trashes other philosophers, focus on the second half of it.
