In the end,why does Batou look agitated after he looks at the doll-present of Tosuga's daughter? Are humans and machines really on equal existential footing?

Probably thinks of the dolls he seen in the factory and that what he's seeing right now could be a simulation.

While I do appreciate a whole other person that saw this movie and liked it, I think you got the wrong board.

I was more interesting in the philosophical questions raised by the film, rather than the film itself. The film kinda "breaks the ice", the real is issue is consciousness and human nature which I find to be a philosophical question, hence the board.

I love movies with philosophical subject, but innocence put so much philo jargon it losed potential.
If I only want to see philosophy then I just read books

It's >>>/a/ actually, a nice way to ridicule yourself

Can we talk about how underrated this piece was? Bits about simulated reality and blurred lines between VR and real life are absolutely fantastic. I still love the part when they discover the mansion is a simulation.
People feed it shit for no reason, its just as good as the first one, if not better in parts.

Inferior direction, sound and visuals and the dialogue is too in-your-face. The latter is also a problem in the first movie but at least it has less dialogue.

There is an earlier scene in which that one robot lady says something like "Aren't children just dolls?" and Togusa is mad at her. The scene in the end is a callback to this.

Good visuals but basically incoherent. Making the sex dolls look like shit for instance was a bizarre directorial choice.
