Why did he convert to Islam? Why not remain a Catholic? What about Orthodoxy? Why did he have leave Christianity?

>> No.13187901

He said that Orthodoxy is a valid tradition in his book on Christian Esoterism (which despite the title is only concerned with Catholicism and western Christianity). It ultimately just ended up being what he was attracted to. He also did say that western Catholicism was valid for the salvation of the soul, but not for ultimate liberation beyond the individual condition (moksha). You can debate this, but it is relatively clear that western Christianity lacks some of the spiritual depth that even Eastern Christianity has.
Also, I advise you not to post Guenon threads for the time being since you are just going to get bait and bad threads.

He was obsessed with Orientalism and exoticism. Why believe in Christ when Krishna and Mohammad are so much more alien? Not to mention, no self-respecting white woman would hook up with him so he went after the easy brown chicks...

this. he had a lifelong insecurity about the top of his head (people called him "cervelette," roughly translating to "small brain") and he thought that all of the muslim hats (prayer cap, keffiyeh, fez, etc.) looked cool. a similar thought process was behind the khazars' conversion to judaism; they wanted to hide their baldness with yarmulkes.

Because he was a nihilist running away from reality. He went against his own teachings and sought refuge in a foreign religion completely ignoring the fact that Islam too is subject to cyclical laws and was already deracinated from its roots.
Evola is the true redpill. Contrarians on this board tend to wank over Guenon more and I honestly dont understand why. Guenon was right about some things, and Evola had some wacky ideas, but overall Evola did far more comprehensive work on religion and tradition. He also lived by his principles to his death.

He wanted an initiation, but in Catholicism and orthodoxy that would amount to being a monk. Hinduism was caste based. He didnt view Buddhism positively at the time.
Christian initiation would be joining a monastery. But monks have celibacy vows and shun the world.
He wanted to level up his spirituality but remain in the world, so he joined islam , mostly for the initiation into a tariqqa.
He was a metaphysician first and foremost.

What does metaphysics as a field of philosophy mean? (and what does metaphysics as not a field of philosophy mean?)

>> No.13190275

>>13190269
When someone starts speaking of 'my/our metaphysics as opposed to your metaphysics' then they have made a field of inquiry into a set of inherited cultural practices, thereby making a philosophical discipline into something relative (albeit unintentionally, due to their shortcomings in theoretical reasoning).
