A retelling of Faust as a contemporary NEET MMO gamer:
A developer notices one player striving every day to be the best in the game, so he appears to his avatar as Mephisto and offers him the top status and powers in the game-world in exchange for his "mortal soul". The gamer, being an atheist, takes the offer, laughing.
He then proceeds to spend his prime years obsessively finding all the game-world's petty secrets and abusing other players in the MMO while ignoring his IRL problems as his friends and family are progressively estranged from him.
Finally, Mephisto appears again and tells him the time has come, and perma-bans him from the game. Faust then realizes he's become a 30 year old boomer with nothing to show for his life and no friends or family to help him out, and that he had actually lost himself to his deal with Mephisto.
Still deciding if it should end with him killing himself or not.

The wife of the president is being philosophically tortured by the apparition of a cartoon penguin who is constantly bombarding with questions of mortality that would seem to contradict its own perspective, but they are part of a greater principle of self doubt and re-construction of the self. All this while her husband, the president is looking for emotional support and guidance through a series of inconvenient and tragic-comedical political drama.

It's a ~50 page story about about a popular mobile phone video game that doubles as a social network. As the game gains popularity, the company running it attempts to implement a crypto-currency that may be used in the game but is also tied to real monetary value. (The software developer has a partnership with a popular cell phone hardware company, further reifying its level of influence in the market.) Attempting to thwart this process, a collaboration of players—who consider themselves to be ideologically "socialist," opposing the idea of real money having any sway in the game—attempt to disrupt the crypto-currency's roll-out. However, fragmentation begins to occur in the group when members question the motivations of its leader, and whether he is in fact attempting to exploit them to turn a profit on the scheme or whether he's honest.

Though the quasi-socialist plot against the game is planned nationwide, the story focuses on a group of high school students who are infatuated with the game and who take to the ideological views of the larger mission to save the game from capitalist monetary enterprise. The protagonist is a sort of hapless kid who only has nominal interest in the group's ideology but who has played along with it because he's never had any friends until this point in his life and he's sweet on a girl in the group. His antagonist in the story is a fellow student who is a much more ardent supporter of the group's larger anti-capitalist ideology, and who incidentally wants the same girl.

As the release date of the crypto-currency nears, it becomes apparent that the dispersion of the currency will occur geographically (meaning players must physically travel to these locations with their phones). In an attempt to disrupt the crypto-currency flow, the nationwide socialist collective organizes to poach and delete all crypto-currency that they can obtain in the game on the first day of its roll-out. To fulfill this purpose in their region, the story's protagonist and antagonist are paired as collaborators in the woods outside of their rural hometown searching for the digital drop coordinates of a piece of crypto-currency. As this short collaboration in the forest deteriorates, both protagonist and antagonist are faced not only with their personal animosity for one another but also come to discover a much more violent threat both to themselves and their hometown.

Sounds interesting, I had a somewhat similar idea myself, but yours is more flushed out than mine. I think a good technique for storytelling is to to retell a classic story through a modern context, and to apply alternate philosophies to alter the story. You should try to incorporate some ideas that differentiate it from just being a simple retelling. Maybe a side-plot or something?

Ted Kaczynski inspired fantasy novel. It would be set hundreds of years after a revolution that destroyed 99% of earth's technology and from the ashes built a society of tribalistic hunter gatherers who have a strict code about how to use technology and what is permitted.. Basically things like guns are ok, but cars aren't. Climbing equipment is ok, but long range communication devices aren't. It wouldn't be arbitrary, it'd feel like a natural way of life that was birthed from the old world with a focus on not straying too far from nature. Replace the traditional fur pelts and bone with insect carapace and silk just to make it more visually alien

Similar to Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind in terms of visuals.
