Definitely in the top 3 of books I've had the most fun reading.

Read V. first though.

Didn't make it that far, but what I did read was really good. I'm reading V. and plan to do Lot 49 next. I hope GR makes more sense after reading those.

GR is the Evangelion of literature.
By which I mean contrived, pretentious garbage you read when you're in that 'seeking the most complex and intellectual' phase, mostly find it painfully boring but convince yourself that the good parts were brilliant for the sake of feeling superior to the plebs.

I haven't read GR but I have read Lot 49, and though it was very odd, I found Pynchons prose to be extremely interesting to read. I can only imagine that V. and GR are going to be very very interesting when I get to them

Gravity's Rainbow is literally Evangelion if you pay attention to the backstory

I believe most people have clear in their mind that GR is a goofy mess, and although it is complex due to lots of characters and stories crossing each other and going back and forward in time, it never feels pretentious.
>mostly find it painfully boring but convince yourself that the good parts were brilliant for the sake of feeling superior to the plebs.
there is literally not one boring page, I have never laughed as good and as often as I did reading GR.

you don't need to trash it just to feel better about not reading it, all right? and tom is a very cool guy, don't go disrespecting him like that

It's funny though, once you think about it you realize the main narrative is rather straightforward though, just digressive and non linear so ofc it's gonna be a bit much to juggle on the first read.

Also pynchon is better at cutaways than Seth himself :)
