GOT since both are unfinished. Manga should never take longer than ten years unless it has episodic arcs like Jojo and Kaiji.

Macbeth kinda.... Guy destined for greatness (at least he believes so) chooses to sacrifice his liege and friends to become a king.

>> No.13152833

Griffith’s role in the eclipse is quite complicated, his intentions are not crystallized until he makes the sacrifice. Prior to the actual event of the sacrifice he was unknowing or unwilling to hurt his subjects, his feelings are made apparent only visually through his body. The reason he crashed in the river, the reason he attempted to kill himself appears to be his utter refusal to shame himself and burden his friends and former subjects with his own impotence. He only sacrifices them after persuasion by the godhand who are agents of the idea of evil.

Isn't it implied that deep down they wanted to be sacrificed for him?

>> No.13153030

>>13152881
Not like THAT. They wanted to fight for a cause, not just become fodder for Griffiths ambition. There is a subtext that they should have known where they were headed in some sense though, by being sucked into Griffith’s “pyre of dreams” like the little knight boy. Guts escaped because he had the will to stick with his own dream without being consumed by Griffith’s fire and Casca was also torn from Griffith’s hold by Guts

That’s why I said “prior to the actual event of the sacrifice”, you fucking faggot. He didn’t accept it until he was persuaded by ubik and condrad
