Monthly Reminder that reading TOO much is bad.

>Memory is not a bank of representations but rather links that present themselves too us readily often so that we remember them. Memory is like folding cloth; once you have folded a particular wear enough times
it begins to become easier to fold that way and so, falling in place. Memory is a muscle.

>Reading book after book will have you reading a-lot and remembering nothing and so, learning nothing.

Just reread the books, problem solved. Genre fiction doesn't deserve rereads, but major philosophical works surely do. Your priorities aren't straight, that's all.

By reading a bad book once in a while, you come to appreciate the great ones even more. Also, as an aspiring writer, bad books can teach you how NOT to write, which is a valuable lesson.

Memory is not a muscle, that's a dumb analogy. You should say that memory can be trained.

I'm also not surprised that a balding guy would have memory problems to the point of thinking you can't remember something from several book at the same time.

aka, you make yourself less intelligent so intelligent things will appear more intelligent. Doesn't refute anything.

aka, bad books teach you how not to create intellectual poison. Doesn't refute anything.
