yeah, French new criticism and the generations that came from it, don't make it easy on the reader, making half of their arguments trough wordplay and esoteric ethology.
Still, this is the instrumentarium they've inherited from the ever sophisticating field of the humanities, that usually uses words for everything it tries to do, so this kind of implosive sophistication is something I can't really blame them for.
