How do you limit the amount of time you spend keeping up with current events so you can read books?

>> No.13088529

what current events? There has literally nothing happened for the last 5 years. It's all the culture industry lying to you.

the last current event that seemed to matter at all was the Crimea business in 2014. Since then it's just been muh refugees or muh drumpf

I don’t really man, I just browse news outlets at work. :3

I don’t know how Butterfly is staying normal while our board is being ransacked by plebs. Don’t worry babe I’ve been on the Chans since 2010. Were entering criticality here, you’re my sweetie pie. We will change the world. You just keep flirting with me.

You need to be more open about it — this point is particularly important and will get more important the less you do it :3

Do you listen to podcasts or anything? Any websites? Nothing?

>> No.13089632

>>13088640
not that anon but no. don't. no podcasts. no news sites. watch your inner-happiness increase as well as people's view of you. Listen as people tell you Bush is the worst thing ever then W. then Trump then in 10 years the next guy. TECHNOLOGY IS CHANGING OUR LIVES. No it's not. Nothing new under the sun. The train, the telephone, internet, smart phones, and yet Shakespeare's still universally applicable. Read Proust's Marcel--in the 2nd and 3rd volume and leaking elsewhere--on telephones and their glory. That's all you need for all technology. Goethe says if you want to see the worth of news, don't read the papers for 6 months then see how little things have changed. Thoreau said that if you stick a newspaper into a drawer and then look at it one year later it'll still say the same thing. Jefferson. Schopenhauer. Nietzsche. All agreed. Fags who read newspapers will say appeal to authority. Only counterpoint I can add is that if you're trying to get into politics--you shouldn't unless you have to--and you've read all the philosophy and literature and looked into a litany of other interdisciplinary fields (AND YOU HAVE NO POTENTIAL TO BE A WRITER/PHILOSOPHER), then, like Aristotle recommends in the rhetoric, you should brush up on all things military, economic, world, etc.

Well I just read my local newspaper and ignore the pseudo-events and editorializing of mainstream outlets. Don't waste too much time on current events. Most either don't affect you or aren't even events.
