hey /lit/,

In the coming days I have to give some lessons to a class of 16-year olds about the Renaissance and most importantly humanism.

Recenty I've read 'the Ruler' by Machiavelli and I was very impressed. I would like to put him in to the spotlight during these lessons, though I'm in doubt if he can be considered a humanist or not.

So, tell me /lit/: Machiavelli: humanist or not?

He believes that foremost one has to be a visibly moral and good individual to gain power. You should most likely do a report on how academia misappropriated Machiavelli’s name continuously :3

Does he? What is the general context that accompanies his posts?

Very good point, though a bit too 'meta' I'm afraid..
