Discuss. Is this book actually any good? Is it just pseudo - intellectual bullshit?

I think you already know the answer

It's good, but entirely too long. If you haven't read other books that are better and also longer it's a waste of time.

It's good.

If you read it like a philosophical novel, you take away a lot. And if you read it like a regular novel, without thinking much about the 'why is the character right', you'll probably end up thinking it was a good-mediocre novel about a strong person. Rand is a good author who will change your life if you read her like an intelligent reader and not 'I just want a good story' one.

Thank you. I'll keep it in mind when I read it.

The plot is alright. There are a few interesting characters, but unfortunately the main character isn't one of them. The conclusion is kind of flat, considering this is a long book. A lot of the philosophy is kind of on the nose, and if it was a bit more subtle, it would have definitely made the novel better.

i'm definitely more Lefty than Ayn Rand and Objectivism as I've heard it described sounds pretty retarded but I've just picked up a copy of this and I'm willing to give it a fair shake. The amount of hate Ayn Rand still inspires tells me she must have been doing something right.
