What are some red flags for writers?

Self styled philosophers are almost gauranteed to be fucking idiots. Anyone who poses as an intellectual rather than letting their work speak for its-self. I see a lot of faggy authors posted on this board, posing for the camera, looking like they're brooding or ruminating on some deep ideas. Usually wear trenchcoats or something appropriately edgy and "mysterious".
