Long poetry is designed to make it easier to remember long runs of information. You will have problems if you're doing it in translation because the meter and assonance won't be there to help you. Because it generally follows a storyline or some sense of order, you can reason out which part comes next from basic familiarity, but overall the repetition of the text is the most important part. You should count yourself lucky this whole thread is not about your retarded image you were retarded enough to repost.
