Do you think there are people in the 21st century who would read long, narrative poetry? Epics, I mean. And I mean new epics, not the great classics of the Canon. If there were poets composing new epics, would people read them?

The art lost can be regained.

Why not write it with a meter but format it like a novel?

People in the 21st century don't want to read. There are people who would read it with a niche publisher, but it wouldn't reach any popularity. People have tried it anyways though.

A famous finnish folklorist Juha Pentikäinen, who is now retired. Is attempting to form a new epic, according to him some old finnish poems can be organized so that they become a story. The epic is about the finnish bear myth. If he manages to make do it, we will see. I think few people read it, most don't people will not.
