hmph

OP I do not agree. SotN, in all its greatness, can't be heralded as an example of exceptional writing in a video game. It's basically a spinoff from bram stocker's dracula.

I enjoyed the hell out of it. I hate how so many people have turned against the CoD franchise. It's only 'generic' because there are so many games in the franchise and because so many other games keep trying to be Call of Duty. A good Call of Duty is still better than 90% of all the other FPS games on the market at the same time.

This. MGS2 was the best Metal Gear game, by far. In order to piss off all of his fans, Kojima was forced to come up with a fantastically warped story. MGS3 by comparison was like reading an L. Ron Hubbard book after having just finished Gravity's Rainbow.

Nevermind that the original Castlevania game was loosely based of of BRAM FUCKING STOKER'S DRACULA

>> No.1297438

>>1297434

No it wasn't. It's supposed to be a mashup of old monster movies. Hence the film in the credits and such.

Now that Castlvania has a continuity, though, the book Dracula actually IS considered part of the continuity. Johnathan Morris from Circle of the Moon is supposed to be the son of Quincy Morris or something.

>> No.1297443

The film credits were intentional name-parodies of the film based on the book.

Like which ones...? I mean, I guess the final boss could fit into that catagory. You do start out saving a princess, but it sure as hell isn't about that.

And even if it was full of them, it's a complex story and well told. Ramza feels very human to me, especially for a JRPG character.

In Final Fantasy X's case, that is indeed a bad thing.

Good sir, I do believe you are missing the glorious FF X-2 from your list of great final fantasy games. After I played X I was startled, and did decry to my friend Winthorpe, "Oh lord WInthorpe, I do not believe a game can be more riveting than this ambrosic Sapphire."But alas I was dumb-stricken, for when I saw X-2 I saw the customizable clothe-changes, the dance-move inspired feints - all metaphors for the ephemeral transience of life - I shod great tears as I have never shod before and shall never shed again. And as I lay down to die, I died a joyous death, the one of a person who has tasted perfection, one who transpires to Nirvana, one who slackens the chainic-cycle of life and moves forward in to bliss.
