It's only 'generic' because there are so many games in the franchise and because so many other games keep trying to be Call of Duty. A good Call of Duty is still better than 90% of all the other FPS games on the market at the same time.

Now that Castlvania has a continuity, though, the book Dracula actually IS considered part of the continuity. Johnathan Morris from Circle of the Moon is supposed to be the son of Quincy Morris or something.
