The thing I've found interesting is, how the two speakers were incessantly quoting Dostoevsky as if Dostoyevsky's views are some sort of ultimate moral ground.

Do you think Dostoevsky himself could have cater his views to this degree of importance if he lived in this day? He surely would have gone on to debates, and then the next day someone also might have posted a video titling 'X DESTROYS Dostoevsky'.

Zizek attacked Dostoyevsky though as "unable to be more wrong" with respect to that quote on evil and God

Is Peterson a living Shonen protagonist?

You dummy, peterson was quoting Dostoevsky because its one of the 3 writers he's actually read. Zizek was quoting Dostoevsky because he was, in this ENTIRE debate, trying to get across to petersonites and he knew Dostoevsky was one of the three writers that those people have actually read.

The debate makes a lot more sense when you frame each interlocutor's intentions properly. Peterson is a happy merchant looking to extract sheckles from his audience and zizek is an autist trying his best to seem friendly to the audience that he knows is comprised of le angry young white bois while slowly inseminating their minds with """"the eternal science of marxism""""""

Dostoyevsky was barelt even brought up. Zizek mentioned far more interesting writers like Chesterton.
