The thing I've found interesting is, how the two speakers were incessantly quoting Dostoevsky as if Dostoyevsky's views are some sort of ultimate moral ground.

Do you think Dostoevsky himself could have cater his views to this degree of importance if he lived in this day? He surely would have gone on to debates, and then the next day someone also might have posted a video titling 'X DESTROYS Dostoevsky'.

You dummy, peterson was quoting Dostoevsky because its one of the 3 writers he's actually read. Zizek was quoting Dostoevsky because he was, in this ENTIRE debate, trying to get across to petersonites and he knew Dostoevsky was one of the three writers that those people have actually read.

The debate makes a lot more sense when you frame each interlocutor's intentions properly.
