I love it far more than it deserves. But I never really mind when people say it's shit, because it is in some ways.

Yep.

It's a great book. People just shit on it to be contrary.

You must of had a retarded school system to have something as simple as The Great Gatsby to be in an AP lit class.

My friends in regular classes read The Great Gatsby, their test scores were pretty high apparently.

Anyway, to the book itself. It's alright!

Brilliantly written.

>> No.1296684

I didn't read Gatsby when I was in high school, I ended up reading Shane and Of Mice and Men.

good book. like catcher in the rye, i had to read it in 7th grade. unlike catcher in the rye, i found each re-reading of gatsby to be more pleasurable than the last. the crack-up is good too...and, for the record, i am one of those nuts who believes that zelda was f.scott, at least the writing part. then again, i also believe bacon to be shakespeare.

>> No.1296738

It's good, I think. A classic, to be sure.

Though I preferred Tender is the Night.

Have you read her book, Save Me the Waltz? It's pretty awful.
