I am an English student, and I am a constant lurker here, so I was wondering if you all had any ideas for literary tattoos that would present my love for books. Characters in Jaqueline Carey's Kushiel's Dart get themed tattoos from the base of the spine to the base of the neck. Sounds pretty badass. I have never wanted to get a tattoo before reading that book, actually considered it for a moment. Although, full disclosure, all the characters that do this are whores. Its a long, strange story,

I see the tattooed day in and day out, and it's just ugly and banal and stupid, especially when it's westerners making a trite statement which becomes regrettable in hindsight.

EXCEPTIONAL EXCEPTIONS? Consider the case of the actors on the lord of the rings. They went through a real journey, and commemorated that with a small, unobtrusive emblem. I can understand that.

Simple, geometric, lateral symmetry. two armbands, say. But you don't really even need that.
