The reason is because Spain as a whole has a really big insecurity problem - we see ourselves as the dumb child of Western Europe. In the media, school, we are always compared to other countries, the Germans work harder , the French and British are more polite (lol), the Americans more trendy and worldly, etc.

This leaves the average Spaniard hating everything that comes from here and discarding it as inferior. It doesn't help that we are a very divided country, partly because we are still suffering the Civil War aftermath and partly because the Catalonia bullshit.

I’m a CHI, and I since I do volunteer stuff I tend to meet a lot of sjw types. I have heard a lot of those people use “latinx”, but it was almost always a white person.
