Can I dive right into the Iliad or do I need to have some previous knowledge?
I tried reading it a bit, but I find it difficult. I never really know what are the gods or people they are referring to, and I also have a hard time understanding why they are acting this way.
I would like to try to start the greeks, but if it's not with the Iliad, I don't really know where to start

Achilles, the hero, is first human to have consciousness, the voice inside your head.
It had never been heard before Achilles.
Unhappily, Achilles took it as the Voice of God (Zeus), telling him to KILL KILL KILL and to suck foot-long hot dogs

Just read the book. They name a god and you aren't sure what they're about? Google them, read the first paragraph on Wikipedia and go back to the book.

You're stressing about reading, how sad is that.
