Here's what we do in this thread. Pick the writer whom you believe fields the largest disparity between how well they LOOK like they can write, and how well they ACTUALLY write.

My nominee is Tom Wolf. He looks like he could slang some words, but really he's not too good.

>> No.1289396

He's a pretty good writer actually.

Well okay but I don't think so. I love his style though. Anyway throw in some nominees, fagpiece.

>>1289401
Oh, I thought we were talking about style. I like his style. I read Bonfire of the Vanities, the book was OK but I have to admit I kept reading at some parts just because he writes well. The content can sometimes be a bit bland or dull, faggot.

>>1289403
The casual inclusion of "faggot" at the end was honestly pretty brilliant. I lol'd.

Ah shit no I meant his patented white suit, not his writing style. I just think his books are really bad.

Well if you're a fan of Virginia Wolff you obviously already have some masochist tendencies, no wonder you laughed.

>> No.1289416

HP Lovecraft has the look of soulless dread about him, while... wait, let me rethink this.

>> No.1289439

>>1289413
Well I viewed it more as a sort of collaborative inclusion. I throw in fagpiece at the end and then you throw in faggot. I like Woolf but I'm not really one of those people who gets mad when someone says a writer I like isn't good. If you wanna nominate Woolf, you're more than welcome. Also, pics make the thread more fun.

>> No.1289443

I always expected Tom Wolfe to look like David Simon, couldn't tell you why.

Yeah well I always expected that if I started a thread and mentioned him, I wouldn't forget the "E", but it's a crazy world, man.

>> No.1289514

I'm bumping this thread back to the front page.

Theodor Geisel is an example of a disparity between what he looks like he writes, and what he actually writes.

Then again, I am intentionally being misleading...
