What books/poems do you think every kid should have read by the time they finish high school?

Just some thoughts:
The Count of Monte Cristo
The Great Gatsby
Brave New World

>> No.1287750

You forgot copious amounts of Shakespeare.

>> No.1287755

Wuthering Heights
At least half of Shakespeare's plays.
not sure how poetry should be taught.

>> No.1287771

1984
Catcher in the Rye

Some ones I read in high school which I liked were:
Atonement
The Things They Carried
Why the Caged Bird Sings
