>when and why did men give up literature
Well that’s a complicated question bucko. To start, most men were never into reading. Especially in the Victorian era, Middle Ages, and early-modern era. Most men either didn’t have the time to read or saw it as a girly/nerdy activity, so they didn’t do it. As for intellectuals, they still read as much as they used to and haven’t stopped. It’s just a romanticized version of the past where men read that you’re imagining

If this was one of those chain stores, their selection usually sucks ass. I've tried in vain to buy books from stores many times. If you like basic bitch poplit they are great, though.

>visit a small academic bookstore to get a copy of Thus Spoke Zarasthura so I can finally fix myself
>it’s on the top shelf
>manlet
>too embarrassed to ask for help reaching it
>leave without buying anything

I hope there’s nothing in that book that would make this story ironic.
