What are some books on how to build discipline? I was supposed to read books from a philosophy reading list but i ended up stopping after 3 books. Then i went on to a literature reading list and stopped after 2 books. Then i got some short stories collections and read 1 short story. Since i failed misreably at reading i thought "in a few months i'm going to college to study Engineering, i should review high school math to keep my math foundations in check", then i built a math's reading list (Sergei Lang Basic Mathematics). I ended up reading one or two chapters on trigonometry and gave up. Now i don't know what to read. How the fuck do i plan my readings and follow it? I don't want to read for entertainment, i think film is way better than that. I read for the intellectual benefits. How to do so without being an adhd retard?

Discipline is meaningless. Everyone relies on it. Its fruit? Medicority. It will get you through life but you won't amount to greatness. The real question you want to ask is how to build motivation.

Discipline comes not through reading books, but rather through action. If you are serious try joining the service.

I think you have those mixed up, friend. Motivation is temporary and discipline is character changing

any idiot can build discipline - but to truly be motivated and have a passion, only the top 1%

Motivation and passion are two mutually exclusive things. You can be motivated to lose weight, but without discipline it won't last very long

Would you agree with the following defs?
Discipline: Ability to apply effort consistently.
Motivation: Reason for applying effort in the first place.
Passion: Enjoyment of the work itself. Some kind of emotional incentive that keeps you going.
Passion is just a guess, based on the way other people talk about it. I don't think I've ever been "passionate" about anything.

Without motivation, you do nothing.
Without discipline, you want to achieve something, but your efforts are sporadic and inconsistent, so you never make it.
Passion would just make it easier to work towards your goal, increasing your chances of achieving it.

You're retarded. The people at the top are the most self disciplined people on the planet. Have you ever looked at successful people's schedules? Motivation is the temporary hook that pulls you into a meaningful pursuit, discipline is what keeps it going. Motivation doesnt cut it for long term projects which can at times just make you want to bang your head against a wall and often make you want to give up. Self discipline (which is really just another word for habit) and some modicum of reward along the way is what gets things done.
