Read Plato, he touches the same subjects with much more refined literary prose. There's no excuse. Aristotle manages to be bad even when writing about ridiculous things like sophists claiming that a black person is black and white because his teeth is white and retardations like that. Just a fucking terrible thinker and writer. No redeemable qualities. Western philosophy is a series of philosophers BTFOing Aristotle. Descartes, Pascal, Kant, Hegel, modern logic etc etc

Good point, but Aristotle was known for being a phenomenal writer during his time. Cicero looked up to him.

formal and syllogistic logic is due to aristotle, but NOR XOR NAND AND etc are conjunctions that are actually lacking from his theory. its closer to dealing with sets, and not really further along in terms of conjunctions than english imo

the idea that they are compiled by students actually makes a bunch of sense. would explain the "thises" referrieg to physical things like the thing on the shelf in metaphysics, because it seems unlikely someone would prep notes like that before the lecture

I've read Physics and Ars Poetica. Now I'm reading Ars Rhetorica, the moral focus of which is pleasing. It's interesting, to add fuel to the fire of the question of Aristotle's and Plato's prosaical prowess, how both person's philosophies correspond to the way of their thinking. Aristotel's use of prerequisites sometimes causes a volley of aftereffects. Plato's use of mythical examples corresponds to his idillyc nature.

The style of his prose texts that were basically bullet points for his lectures really doesn't say much about his dialogic format. I notice that good, imaginative writers and poets switch to a completely different, typical convoluted academic style when writing essays and articles.
