Correct. The only solution for the foreseeable future is to install me as an authoritarian tyrant.

Democracy is bunk but Hoppe basing his critique on faulty liberal / anarchist priors doesn’t help his cause . There are far better refutations of democracy out there -
Moldbugs work is a good place to start . Bertrand de Jouvenels book On Power provides a great framework to explain why democracy can’t work - this is a good intro to this line of critique.

Land has some good takes on the subject

Behavioral reality knows only one iron law: Whatever is subsidized is promoted. With a necessity no weaker than that of entropy itself, insofar as social democracy seeks to soften bad consequences – for major corporations no less than for struggling individuals or hapless cultures — things get worse. There is no way around, or beyond this formula, only wishful thinking, and complicity with degeneration. Of course, this defining reactionary insight is doomed to inconsequence, since it amounts to the supremely unpalatable conclusion that every attempt at ‘progressive’ improvement is fated to reverse itself, ‘perversely’, into horrible failure. No democracy could accept this, which means that every democracy will fail.”

Reactionary Future’s political theory is superior to Lands . The emphasis on Jouvenel’s work and the importance of “ high low vs the middle” is a noticeable advance on previous nrx theories . They both do a pretty good job of destroying any case for democracy though .

Can't argue too much, because I haven't read the book, but you can clearly see the redditor's left-wing assumptions...

For instance: calling it American Civil War has nothing to do with actual history, it is a choice which can be made depending on how you view it, just like 'Russian revolution' can be called 'Commie coup' by those who dislike it without it implying any divergent view about the historical facts themselves - they just think it's more appropriate to call it a coup instead of a revolution.

If someone agrees with the secession of the South, then it makes sense they would call it a Southern Independence War. I myself agree with this, as I am in favor of small countries rather than very large ones - wouldn't Californians prefer to be governed by their own Democratic president rather than by Trump, for instance? Small countries tend to leave less people dissatisfied, since the population tends to be more similar and cohesive, besides the fact that people are a lot closer to the federal government and the individual has a higher power than he would have in a large nation.
