>You should 'know thyself' rather than 'be yourself'

What should I read to this end?

I am also looking for such a book, I've been struggling for years trying to find who I am

We reside in our brains. The senses imprint memories and develop character through unique experiences. The brain is still rather mysterious. Not only are the hemispheres dividing duties and developing nearly autonomous inner twins, but all the cells of which it and the rest of you are made up of, all change out after a few years. You are literally a different persons every (seven, I heard) years. So not only can you not stand in the same river twice, you’re not even putting the same foot in there.

Me too. Maybe the point of it is to try to get over the disgust and accept it as who you were. Goes along with other lessons in life that basically just teach you the objective end of all of it is to get comfortable with misery.

Thats such a lame platitude. The person you are now creates your future self. So how do I get to know my present self. Mindfulness? Experience as much as possible to explore my limits? If so how do I get there

>Thats such a lame platitude.
Naw. The last line is a bit of a silly overstatement.
>The person you are now creates your future self.
True enough
>So how do I get to know my present self. Mindfulness? Experience as much as possible to explore my limits?
Sure.
>If so how do I get there
Just existing now seems to suffice.
