Being wrong about reasoning and deduction in general led him to be wrong about god. From this, he derived various true observations on human nature. It is logical in one sense: the false may imply the true.

But the order in which things are presented in the text is not the order in which he came to apprehend things. He began with what he knew to be true concerning human nature, and contrived a system from elements that he had been cultured to know (euclid, god), to give it a veneer of a system, a grand narrative.

Clever, interesting, historical curiosity in which ideas play with each other? Yes, and in this sense, properly philosophical. Rigorous and logically legitimate? No, and in this sense (un-truth) properly un-philosophical.
