Here's two things you should know:
1. Poetry is more important than narrative prose fiction in Islamic countries.
2. The Quran, not the 1001 Nights, is the most important book in all of Islamic culture
3. Most people in any part of the world don't read books, especially not classic works of fiction.
Conclusion: Reading fiction isn't something you can use to easily approach random people and get them to talk to you, especially not to get a girlfriend or get laid.

I watched my Muslim work colleague eat bacon by accident today. It was at the bottom of a salad bowl and the cafeteria people sold it as carrot salad.

I could have stopped him, but I chose not to. Not out of spite or malice. I just didn't feel inclined one way or the other. So I let it happen out of apathy I guess.
He ate a couple fork fulls before he realised. I guess he enjoyed the taste.
He kicked off like mad though, he'll probably win a tidy sum of money when he sues.
Hope it helps him forget he will never get into heaven though.
