hate the self-dick-sucking section titles "a primer" "a beginning" fuck off dipshit.

also way heavy on the introductory texts. if you actually need to read those then just give up, you're hopeless.

anyone can find a better calculus textbook than stewart which is a commercial meat grinder product that is needlessly updated every few years so they can charge more for it.

pointlessly biased towards autistic fields towards the end.

If you're not a native English speaker Paradise Lost is a pretty advanced texts, I'd recommend skipping it until you're more acquainted with the language. If you are a native English speaker I'd suggest picking up the Norton edition and reading a few articles on Milton and his life before grappling with it. The language is archaic and the biblical references are so core to its meaning that reading an edition without annotations will leave you missing a good deal of the bigger picture at best, deeply confused at worst.

It isn't necessary to discourage people trying to learn something in earnest. Self improvement should be nurtured. If you want to shit on people because you're well versed in something they aren't, and they're actively trying to learn, you're probably a narcissist or an insecure prick who can only feel valuable tearing other people down. Grow up.

start with Khan Academy then. maybe get a nice precalc book like Axler, Stitz-Zeager, Cohen, etc., though really anything can do. The second one is available free online. You could also read either How to Prove It or Book of Proof, second one is available free online. Then you have the option of doing calculus seriously through something like Spivak, Apostol, or Courant, which will include proofing.

That should keep you occupied for a while.

could be a good take, but that's not my intention. i imagine someone eagerly picking up said charts and wasting a ton of effort and valuable time trying to gruel through these chart's recs only to come away with no, or very little mathematical insight for the amount of work they put in.

really they should go look through their state university's curriculum, and look at the textbooks and homeworks they assign for each class (really often online these days), then start working through it

setting out to learn something as imposing and immense as math or physics should be done deliberately and with sure direction. these charts pretend to provide that but really are just pompous and pretentious name-dropping. worse, name dropping to the uninitated eyes who cannot see it, do not know any better and are thus harmed the most

Your first forays into proofing are going to be difficult. There's no way of getting around it. Spivak, Apostol, Courant, etc. are all going to be challenging, even if you've already gone through brainlet calculus. It's a different mode of thinking.

It's one of the major bottlenecks of math education, the other being the more quantitatively-demanding yet non-proofs based math like calculus, since you need to be comfortable with everything before it to do well.

Might as well suck it up and get through it. Your brain will thank you later.

De Bello Gallico.
If you can read French or Portuguese (I don't know if it was translated to English), go for La Retraite de Laguna - Alfredo d'Escragnolle Taunay.
Lost Victories by Manstein.
The Forgotten Soldier by Guy Sajer.
I would be surprised if Trotsky wrote about the war and the battles too, so, check his bibliography.

>Like something more based on the actual deeds of good strategicians than something focusing on pure strategy
I don't think you will find anything that stretches over the entire period, and if you do it will be shallow and disjointed. Sounds to me like what you want are biographies. Frederick the Great, Napoleon, Alexander Suvorov, Wellington, Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck, Genghis Khan/Subutai, Heraclius, Basil II, Khalid ibn al-Walid, Timur/Tamerlane, Nader shah. There are also tons of books about Manstein and Guderian, and I don't think it will be too difficult to find something on Zhukov/Vasilevsky/Rokossovsky.

There are several books on Lettow-Vorbek that /his/ likes to recommend and I doubt you will be able to find anything more relevant than this, fighting in the middle of Africa with no support during ww1, at a great manpower disadvantage, and manages to win every single battle throughout the war. A couple of them are on this chart.
Peter the Great by Robert Massie also goes into depth about the strategy and movements of Karl XII and Peter, this war is usually counted together with Napoleon and Hitler as among the great invasions of Russia.
Ivan the Great of Moscow and Ivan the Terrible also fought a string of very competent wars to unite Russia and destroy the tatars.
