>Be introverted autist
>Choose to be English meme major so I can study literature more in-depth
>Expect to meet other people like me
>90% of everyone in the major is a normie who only reads YA fiction, an SJW who shit-talks anything that wasn't written before the current year, or obnoxious extroverts who talk about anything but literature
>Typically so nervous in front of these kind of people that I don't talk
>Go entire semesters without saying a word to my classmates

I thought people who like to shut themselves up in a book for hours a day would also be introverted and socially incompetent, but I've been disappointed, m8s. The only professors who fit the classic bookworm image also seem to be 70+ year old men. Is literature no longer the domain of the awkward and unlovable?

I've gotten to know one pretty well, he even wrote me a recommendation letter. Other than him, I'm 2 months away from graduation and didn't make a single friend all my time here. Pretty much just read, wrote, and did internships instead.

This is actually more common than you might think. I've seen normies do this too, probably because everyone's just used to saying "Thanks, you too" when you're given service by somebody.

Haven´t talked to a classmate in 3 years. There are several cliques of extroverts talking to each other, some are normies, some are "nerds" and some are women. Then you´ve also got a mix of loners that sit by themselves. The thing is, both of you being loners does not equate you getting along, you and they are loners for a reason. You aren´t missing out on anything, no profound understanding or whatever you imagine it would be like. It would just be two people being awkward and silent together.

Is there actual job growth in becoming a librarian? I was thinking about becoming one, but getting a Master's for a job that pays 40k or 50k seems kinda pointless. It also seems to be dominated by women.

I usually manage to talk to people no matter where I go but it's always surface level. It never goes beyond that and I quickly lose touch, that's why I don't really have a lot of close people in my life. My relationships hang by a thread getting thinner every moment since I spend less time on vidya.

not op but im going into Uni next year and I want to double major in both English and Journalism but im pretty sure both are useless in terms of job applications, so im not really sure where to go all my friends are going into sciences, maths, or law and im pursuing a dead end writing degree. I really don't care about wages I would not mine working 15hr/yr as a journalist and ultimately working my way up but I also feel like Im blowing a big chance to actually major in something that can really have me living well. I just can't seem to find anything that interest me at all, any suggestions guys :/

Depends on your country. Tons of integration measures and such responsibility have been moved onto libraries, every school has a library, tons of specialized and public libraries everywhere. UK is the only country I know of where libraries are actively being shut down. What's the problem with women? Old librarian women are basically the only humans I manage to socially interact with, mommy gf meme in real life without the sexual innuendo.

>hurr durr I don't make a million dollars a year waaaaahhh
If you had the abilities to get a top crusty job, then you wouldn't be in here i reckon. If you don't enjoy the profession, then why do you even consider being a librarian. Just go get your 200k a year job, it will be easy for you right?

Nonsense, literature is the domain of the true alpha who lead this world. Look at how many diplomats and generals were writers. Tacitus was at some point the second most powerful man in the Roman Empire for Jupiter's sake.

You think you "belong" to the community of the readers of literature, or perhaps that literaure belongs to your kind, but the fact is you really belong nowhere and you're merely a late peripheral addition to the literati ecosystem.
