you need to not be passive and actively try and decode things, but the whole progression of the novel is to make things clearer and clearer as it goes on

Started this recently, used a guide for the first chapter because I couldn't be bothered to do all that shit off the bad (Probably because I'm biased against Faulkner).

Don't use Schmoop or Sparknotes. Schmoop tells you want to think and tries to be your friend, and I think the sparksnotes page has spoilers on it.
