My professor started Ulysses 5 times and never finished it.
He's not an english professor thought.
Did anyone here ever finish that ?

Yeah, I did but I didn't understand most of it. I read it in a little over a week.

Worst piece of shit to ever exist kys faggot but only after you sit back down, read ulysses, and look at some companion pieces so you fucking understand it

Joyce's daughter said these were all nonsense and you should just read the book alone.

with someone such as >>12672189 reading it, i'd expect she'd allow it due to an uncaring of the novel that is shown through such a quick reading that they didn't understand

Wasn't she insane ?

Yes — I’ve read it twice. It’s important to read it with secondariy literature (try bloomsday) or the Joyce podcast.

And? The entire point of Ulysses is the schizo like prose.

Guys, lets stop pretending that James Joyce was a good writer. The whole point of writing is to be comprehensible, and he actively strove against that. And the works he did write which were comprehensible (Dubliners, Portrait of an Artist), were the dullest things I ever read.

I'm convinced that he dedicated himself to an incomprehensible style precisely because he understood the core of his work was boring and hollow.
