So for the last 2 months I've been performing my first reading of the original Dune series, which I had never checked up to now. I'm not going to talk about the plot, since most of you would know how amazing it is. I just have one really important question.
I just finished Heretics of Dune, and am ready to proceed to read Chapter House Dune. My question is, should I check also Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune? I'm not a fan of series being concluded by another author (especially by the son of the original one), but I'd like to see how the story ends. What do you think?

Bumping because I really need some help.

no offense but I think everybody agrees that the last original ones are bad enough and there's no need to go and read something even worse

They're famously awful but because of that nobody actually reads them. So go ahead, be the canary in the bad book coalmine

Those rip-offs by Frank Herbert's son are the most shameful perversions of a good original that you can possibly find. No joke.

This.

But more importantly, Dune, and every other Herbert story is adolescent /lit/. If you are not a teenager, manchild or a plebeian there is no reason to read his work. I honestly thought they were great and epic at age 14, but they really aren't. That said they are genuinely interesting or raise some interesting issues on an epic scale, but the only purpose of them is to lead on young minds not yet capable of appreciating adult lit.

no. no, you should not. you will regret having done so if you do.

i actually paid good money for two of those prequel books. i didn't finish them. i left them on a park bench for the seagulls to shit on. not a richfag, so i'm not in the habit of throwing books away, but the dune prequels are bad. they are Twilight bad.
