face the harsh truth
>author has no say over cover
>author has mostly but a veto for the title
>publishers will continue to merch up content

desu there's nothing wrong with it. A book will usually be shit if any of these apply

>The Author's Last Name is over twice the size of the title
>The text on the cover is embossed or textured
>The front cover depicts a couple making out
>The front cover is a photograph depicting some meme vocation like rancher or doctor
>The front cover has particle effects
>The back cover mostly consists of reviews
>The back cover talks about the author instead of the book

Any others?

Agree with most, but sure look at Penguin books. They rarely, if ever, have a blurb on the back and they have fascinating books
