Stupid question but is there a kind of philosophy that isn't really about a logical system but solely about living? Maybe it's not even philosophy I'm looking for but just writers who have general wisdom about the world, individuals etc - I feel I'm in the mood to read some sage advice

Classical Philosophy had as its aim "how to live well", how to be happy.
Epictetus is probably what you are looking for. There is also a letter from Epicurus.

Zen Buddhism is exactly what you seek. The difference between Zen and the western thinkers mentioned in this thread is that Zen does not utilize dualism to explain the world. Zen doesn't doesn't affirm or negate. Stoics may tell you "live according to nature", but that in itself divides reality under the microscope of the intellect and betrays its original point.
