I haven't changed much. I mean, I listen to different music now than I did when I was younger, I also dress differently and view learning as being important, but I "suffer" from a lot of the same problems. Socially awkward, quiet, shy, low self-esteem, and dependent on parents for money.

13: Read anything that seemed grown-up, mostly fiction; Stephen King, was interested in history, got into philosophy.

16: Became /lit/-pretentious. Enlightenment philosophy, Nietzsche, Rand, existentialism, decided I knew what I was talking about. Was into metal.

20: Kafka, Spengler, Cioran, Bataille, Bloom, postmodernists (what I could stand to read). Was into prog.

Current self: Only read, watch, and play things I find entertaining.

>For me: entry-level Classics, Steinbeck, Bukowski, Robbins, Hesse, Vonnegut, McCarthy, Le Clezio, Bulgakov, whatever takes my fancy. Getting more into Russian and Jap lit but my current fave has to be Viking/Icelandic. Might move on to some entry-level philosophy in Christmas.

age 10: was into physics, math, chess and Tolkien. Music–wise I listened mostly to classical, film scores and classic rock.

age 13: still on the physics and math kicks, but also was getting into evolutionary biology. was writing for a major M:tG website, didn't really play much chess anymore, had a Quake habit. listened to mostly the same music, but was starting to get into alt-rock thanks to a really good college station.

16: was a douchebag, had been getting really into philosophy, especially Descartes and Kant. still really into biology, starting to develop a more mature interest in ancient history than I had had before. Listened to Elephant 6 stuff, indie folk, twee shit and went to hardcore punk shows with friends. True love was still Mozart.

today: philosophy grad student. married. play WoW with my wife, love the historical strategy games of Paradox Interactive. Really into Stravinsky recently.

10: skated by with straight B's. never did homework, played outside instead and did sports. only reading was for quizzes i had to take on books to accumulate points. would always read books night before deadline and take the quiz to get the points.

Current (18)- loves reading, hasn't in 3 months due to lack of free time. straight A pre-med +honors classes student (trying in school now, quitting premed next semester to follow pasison for art...but that's a diff development!) able to read specific philosophy works and can now comprehend them, reads whatever suits my fancy. found a love for romantic to victorian era poetry. still very physically active (weight lifting+ jogging).

12: Quirky, "Gifted" kid. Just took up piano and loved it, doodled animals mostly, started discovering anime. Kinda chubby and introverted but still pretty outgoing.

10: Captain Underpants and all that, Scholastic book orders, all that fun stuff, pokeman, digimon, yu-gi-oh, beyblades, GBA and GCN all day everyday.

13: GCN and GBA all day everyday (didn't own other concoles), started to read R.A. Salvatore books almost exclusively for a series of months or so, started to progress in to Wheel of Time. didn't listen to music all that much, mostly whatever Much music played.

16: Read whatever I can get my hands on mostly, listened almost exclusively to metal. I bought a lot of shitty CDs during this time. I recall only ever really getting in to metal and all that in some vain attempt to try and win over some girl...God damn. Played WoW during this time.

Current self (18): In university, reading mostly "classic" books right now. Listen to a lot of different stuff, my favorite bands presently being No Age and Deerhunter. Don't play as many video games as I used to. I mean I brought my DS to university but have yet to take it out. Really into the "alternative/independent" comic "scene" (Fantagraphics, Drawn and quarterly, the odd webcomic, self-published stuff), read some stuff from DC (Green Lantern), but mostly buy stuff from Vertigo/Image (favourite series from each right now are probably The Unwritten and Chew). In regards to how I dress at this age...eh...I don't know how to describe. I'm probably better dressed now than I was at my other ages. Pretty neurotic, remain somewhat "shy"/collected, making meeting people/making plans a big ordeal that I dread growing throw.

Even Russell and Wittgenstein who have a strong background in the philosophy of science have countless ideas approaching occult concepts. Then look at Hegel, Kant, Nietzsche

Age 13: Ironic t-shirts. Double-A Team Lacrosse. Every girl falls in love with me, but I write poetry for the shy girl in band. Boy were they jelly. Counterstrike. His Dark Materials. Classic Rock.

Age 15: Converse and button downs with rolled up sleeves. Injury makes it hard to keep playing sports. Although I already excelled at it, started allotting more time to art. Word spreads that I'm also an artist and causes second coming of the girlpocalypse. . Start reading classic literature. Folk and jazz.

Current Self: Dress more reservedly. Develop an unfortunate variety of mental disorders. Cope, but paranoia keeps me to myself. Alienate friends. Lose capacity to concentrate, college no longer viable. Begin working. Can't bring myself to read or draw. Mostly just stare at walls. Sadface :(

I don't have that pseudo-intellectual hate that I had in high school of it.

Shiiit, I just realized how long and utterly depressing this sounds. I'm really not that unhappy, I'm pretty mellow and I figured out a LONG time ago that bad experiences are unavoidable and you can either bitch about it and hate everything or you can shrug and move on.
