It sounds like it's trying too hard to be profound. Trying so hard, in fact, that the actual meaning and image of what you're trying to depict falls in between the cracks of your strange word choices. I'm not sure you use semicolons properly, either; the first one should be a comma, since the second phrase is not a complete thought, as it lacks a predicate. You could argue the verb is implied, but it doesn't really read that way, and the structure is kind of cumbersome, especially with the bloated language. I'm not sure of the context of this excerpt, but I'll venture a guess that it doesn't merit the use of the word "nay" in the twenty-first century. Also you might want to look into parallel structure; the last sentence falls flat because the last phrase differs from the wording of the two preceding it, leaving a feeling that you didn't really resolve the thought satisfactorily.
I think if you put more thought to overall structure, rather than individual words, you'll get a better sense for how to convey the tone and image you're going for. There's definitely potential, though.
