(Candide was shit, so is Nietzsche (haven’t read either of them)). /lit/ introduced me to Kierkegaard and I became a KNIGHT OF FAITH, so now I know that I just gotta believe and that’s TRUE bravery. God doubted himself when he died for you, to show you He was human too, he sinned to repent for your sins. So now your debt is double. God gave you life and God forgave you for Living (sinning) . When your identity is this reflection into God, spirit holding together flesh and soul, if you will, it is posited in your new "true" self what Kierkegaard calls "a first sin", which is qualitatively the same as the original sin. This is the principle of brotherhood and love. It is not that you as a narrative entity must obey an impossible imperative, but you as a result of sin will love youself through the negation of your identity (through knowing youself, by defining you through the words that do not quite manage to define you), and as a sinner will only find the means of this livelong task of knowing God-urself-the impossible through "the eyes of the other", meaning that you only do see yourself through your actions in the other. There is no such thing as relf-reflection within one single mirror, self-reflection is the reflection (loving) of one self that is the co-operation of two "sinners" (two string of words that surround the transcendental). Loving your neighbour means loving yourself, which means to love God. It is a paradox, because as a personality it is impossible, but that is precisely what religion asks for (in a passive aghresive manner, because it asks for it by explicity not asking for it) : the making of the impossible, which is essentially a repetition of the revolution (the arrival of the Messiah, later formalized by Saint Paul).
