There's a huge difference between an anti-hero like Jay Gatsby and a character that is just not entertaining to read.

Turtles All the Way Down is a MUCH better book, and you can tell that Green came from a more personal place with his own experiences with OCD.

Its not just incels. Even men that say they dont care for such things get insecure when they are presented to a woman that completly outmaches their partner counter. As it was said above, it all comes down to property and power.
As long as the word "whore" is thrown around as an insult, that mentality will never die out. Using pure blank "racionality" into this doesnt really work since it revolves around human instincts.
