I'm looking for a good typewriter for fiction writing. Typewriter programs have made it a bit easier to work on a computer, but it's just not enough. Any recommendations for quality typewriter models?

luddites aren't useless, they rebelled against technologies that made them useless

Again, I will refer you to the pyramid. This time, you have resorted to both the bottom tier and the second from the bottom. Wrong direction.

Computers have not made it any easier for me to write good fiction, so I do not use them for it anymore, while I still use them for other things, obviously. It's perfectly logical. I'm quite a pro-computer guy in general. Not a luddite.

you sound like a fucking pussy. real writers use a pen and a leather-bound notebook.

Real writers use whatever works for them. What works for me is a typewriter.

but you just said they're useless b/c of the machines. paradox.

you still get +1 for correctly referencing the etymology of luddite though. (and they called themselves that after ned ludd, who was put to death for destroying a loom. lol @ the british!)

There are a lot of good ones, but WriteMonkey is my favorite.

typewriter programs? what? so all the bad of typewriters minus all the good of word processors in one? huh

>> No.1258554

Don't be a fucktard.

For some, it is the good of typewriters mixed with the good of word processors. It is simple and not distracting, like a typewriter, but has easy revision and copy/paste ability, like word processing.

>> No.1258568

wtf is typewriting software?

Wouldn't it just be your everyday word processor??? I mean you would be using a computer.

>> No.1258600

just use notepad, if you're easily distracted you're probably forcing your self to write, don't do that. forcing your self to write will show up between the lines.

Forcing yourself to keep writing is the only way to get through writer's block. Writing is hard work, even for the best writers. It's not a big LSD trip. At least, not if you want to get published. But if you want to write shitty rambling "artistic" nonsense in the privacy of your home, it's your right.

WriteMonkey is basically the same as notepad. It just has some other handy features as well. It saves things in .txt format.

Wow, your example of one classic writer with a mental disorder sure trumps the advice of hundreds of current professional writers.

No but seriously, this must be embarrassing for you.

i admire your dedication OP, but in all honestly, i think you'll use it for a week, realize it's a big hassle and then go back to using the computer. it will make a nice decoration, however.
