Are writers inherently eccentric?

Artists often are. Nothing inherent about it though

Eccentricity correlates with esotericism. Stephen King just gives voice to dark fantasies normal people have, or that they can comprehend with only a moderate amount of disgust, because he is a "pretty normal guy." Peter Sotos is a fucking weirdo, and no amount of technique is going to polish that coal urchin into anything remotely fit for mass consumption.

but it's entirely inherent.
whether someone is an artist is due a circumstance of their birth

Some people like their art dry or hacky and tend to not like the inventive eccentrics art.

He's slightly askew. The blowjob scene in "It" and the library rape scene in "Four Past Midnight" are examples of the most horrifying things he can produce, and they both hinge on a basically corrupt understanding of the feminine that I suspect most American men harbor to some degree. Again, that's why he's popular. A little more off than most, not so much so that his work is being confiscated as child porn like P.U.R.E. or banned for obscenity like Ulysses.

Most people are eccentric if you get to know them. Writers just have good reason to display it

eccentric is going to someones house at 3 am because you don't own a phone and wanted to tell them something and on top of that its january with frigid cold air and that does not bother you for your task. most people do that?
